120 x 60cm Unbleached Cotton Durry Rug
These friendly flat weave rugs are soft and chunky, feel almost like wool, but are actually robust 100% cotton.
This «white» version is made with unbleached and undyed cotton – nothing added, nothing taken away. In fact, these rugs are so close to natural cotton you can often see remnants of raw cotton seeds still embedded in the yarn.
The cotton is grown nearby to the weavers' society, and by avoiding bleaching our cotton retains its natural and comforting mellow colour – very different from those cold, mass-produced rugs you might have seen elsewhere. Here the texture features the warmth of natural tones: slightly creamy-yellow hues, perhaps even occasional hints of grey.
These are individually hand woven rugs from the far north of India. They are made in stunning surroundings in a steep valley overlooking the Ganges, in a place where India begins its ascent into the Himalaya.
